1. Aishwarya Rai and Randeep Hooda both said yes to director Omung Kumar for the film within 15 minutes of narration.
2. Sarbjit's condition in the jail was worse than that of a beggar. What you see in the movie is only 50% of what he went through. There was no ventilation, no sanitation, no light in the confinement he was kept in for the longest time. His body had begun to rotten. Sarbjit was fond of wrestling and photography and was in very good shape. He was agile and full of life. When Dalbir Laura, his sister met him for the first time in the jail, he had lost 70% of his body weight. He had wounds that had severe infections all over his body. His nails and teeth had become black as coal.

The scene didn't go down well with the locals at Bhendi Bazaar and they filed a complaint against the makers. However, Police officials have released Zafar Mehdi as they had valid permission to shoot for the film.
