Sanwri - Love Beyond Gender Movie (2022)

Sanwri – Love Beyond Gender, later retitled "Unwoman", is a poignant Hindi/Rajasthani drama directed by Pallavi Roy. It explores themes of love, identity, and societal norms through a deeply emotional narrative set in rural Rajasthan

Set in rural Rajasthan, the story follows Bhanwar, a naive young man who dreams of getting married. However, he is tricked into marrying Sanwri, a transgender woman. Initially shocked and fearing social ostracization, Bhanwar and his uncle decide to keep Sanwri for household work while hiding her identity from the community. Over time, Bhanwar and Sanwri develop a deep emotional bond and fall in love. Together, they struggle to survive as a couple in a conservative society where rigid traditions dictate that marriage can only exist between a man and a woman. The film explores themes of love, identity, and the fight against societal norms. This film
