1. Sanjay Dutt had to leave the film because he had to attend court every day and only could do night scenes. He told Firoz Nadiadwala that after completing Kartoos (1999) he could not do any film for a short period, so he suggested that Sunil Shetty should take his place in the film.
2. The film is termed a cult comedy in Hindi cinema.
3. The film was launched as Raftaar with a grand mahurat just before Kartoos (1999) was to be released and the cast at that point was Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal, and Karishma Kapoor. Steven Seigal attended the mahurat and mentioned that he was going to do a cameo in the movie.
4. Paresh Rawal's character Baburao GanpatRao Apte became an iconic character of Hindi films in line with Gabbar Singh, Don, Anthony Gonsalves, Mogambo, and many more.
5. Akshay Kumar was having a tough time when his films were not doing well at that time his films Sangarsh and Jaanwar in the year 1999 did quite well but with Hera Pheri a new Akshay Kumar was born with comic talent.
6. A remake of Malayalam film Ramji Rav Speaking.
7. Karisma Kapoor was offered the lead role but turned it down because she did not find the role substantial enough. After Karishma Kapoor, the female lead role has gone to Mamta Kulkarni but after created controversy about her, Priyadarshan replaced her with Tabbu.
8. Raveena Tandon was signed for an item song but was replaced by Namrata Shirodkar.
9. The song "Mujhse milti hai..." filmed on Akshay Kumar and Rambha, whose promos were aired on television, was deleted from the final cut of the movie.
10.Akshay Kumar - Paresh Rawal - Suneil Shetty - Priyadarshan first collaboration. After this movie, either combination of the trio were regulars in Priyadarshan's future directions.
11. Paresh Rawal's was appreciated by the audience that later he only switched to comedy roles in the new millennium and did not do negative characters which for which he was fully known in the 80s and 90s.
