1. Mirza-Sahiban is one of the four popular tragic romances of Punjab. The other three being Heer-Ranjha, Sohni-Mahiwal and Sassi-Punnun. Mirza-Sahiban is the only love story where the heroine ends up sacrificing her lover to save her family.
2. Harshvardhan Kapoor practiced archery and horse riding for three years for this movie as Mirza was the best archer and horse rider. He even stayed with horses and washed them.
3. This movie marks the debut of Harshvardhan Kapoor, son of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor and younger brother of Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor.
4. Rajkumar Santoshi was to launch Gurdas Mann's son Guriik in a film titled "Mirzya" in 2011. The film got shelved.
