Preeti gradually adjusts to Kabir's domineering demeanor and returns his affections. Kabir receives his MBBS and travels to Mussoorie to pursue a postgraduate degree in orthopaedic surgery.
Preeti's family, meanwhile, pressures her into an arranged marriage. When Kabir rushes to Preeti's house, interrupts the wedding reception, and angrily protests; Harpal beats and arrests him.
After his release, on a day off, Kabir is hungover when he is called in to conduct an emergency surgery. Kabir's medical license is revoked for five years, and he is evicted from his apartment. Kabir swears to stop his self-destructive behavior.
During a trip, Kabir notices a pregnant Preeti sitting dejectedly in a park. Shiva then tells Preeti everything that has happened to Kabir in the last nine months. Preeti, shocked, discloses in a storyline twist that her marriage was never consummated and that the child is, in reality, Kabir's. The movie concludes with Kabir and Preeti on a beach with their baby.
