Trivia

1. Shahid Kapoor learned a six-page monologue for the climactic scene where his character ''Haider'' turns mad. He put forth the delivery of that monologue in front of a crowd of 5000 listenings. For filming the scene, which was done in 3-4 hours, Shahid Kapoor was made completely bald.
2. Both director Vishal Bhardwaj and lead actor Shahid Kapoor did not charge any money for the film as they neither want to overstretch the budget nor compromise the quality.
3.The song 'Jhelum' is sung by Vishal Bhardwaj himself.
4. Haider was shot in two parts. The first schedule was in November-December 2013 and then next in January-February 2014. Keeping the weather conditions in consideration, the first part of the film is shot in Autumn-Winter and the second part featuring intense drama and action sequences under snow. The entire filming was completed in 54 days.
5. The word 'Chutzpah' used by Haider several times is A Hebrew word that means "certain audacity to get away with outrageous conduct".
6. There's a common misconception that the film was given a U/A certificate after 41 cuts by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which included a corpse-loaded truck, the wire being inserted inside a naked man, bloody dead body, abusive language, etc. But the director, Vishal Bharadwaj once stated to the media that the CBFC asked for only 7 cuts. The rest were voluntarily done for a tighter screenplay and for more diluting the explicitly violent scenes considering a UA(unrestricted public exhibition, with recommended parental guidance for viewers of age below 12) certificate.
7. Vishal Bhardwaj, the director of Haider, has composed the film score and original songs.
8. Haider is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' set in violent times within Kashmir.
9. The MAMA 2, In reality, was PAPA 2
10. During the Lal Chowk scene, The Ghanta Ghar shown is the old Ghant Ghar, which was the same as in 1995.
11. Initially, Manoj Vajpayee had to play Khurram, which was eventually played by Kay Kay Menon..
12. Irrfan Khan who has previously worked with Bharadwaj in Maqbool And 7 Khoon Maaf makes a cameo as Roohtaar.
13.The latest collaboration between director Vishal Bhardwaj and actor Shahid Kapoor after their 2009 blockbuster Kaminey.
14. Shahid Kapoor Went completely bald for the film.
15. This is the last film of the Shakespearian Tragedy Trilogy Adaptation by Bhardwaj. The other two movies are Maqbool (Macbeth) and Omkara (Othello).
16. One of the actors in the movie Saqib Bilawal sheik was killed by the Indian army in Kashmir in December 2018.
