1. Deepika Padukone was given the first choice of playing Meera or Veronica. She chose the latter because Meera's character was similar to her earlier character Meera in Love Aaj Kal. Later Diana Penty got Meera's role. Interestingly, earlier in their modeling career, Diana had replaced Deepika as Maybelline's brand ambassador.
2. The film's first official trailer got a phenomenal response as its YouTube link got more than 1 million hits in just 3 days.
3. The apartment scenes shown in 'Daaru Desi' were shot with a green screen in the background of the apartment set. The city landscape is added digitally in both the scenes when Deepika dances sitting on the balcony and Saif is twisting Diana's nose.
4. Fans were upset when Honey Singh's song Agrezi Beat was not included in the soundtrack. The song had been used in the trailer making people think it was to be used for the soundtrack and film. This did not happen to cause many fans to feel cheated. Kareena Kapoor had heard the song and loved it. She requested Saif to use it for the trailer.
5. Deepika Padukone was seen in a proper two-piece bikini for the first time in a film. As being a supermodel, she did many bikini shoots in her modeling career but none in a film before this one.
6.The song Main Sharabi had an International cover version for the song Main Sharabi (Alcohaloc). The song is a song by Susheela Raman for the Alcoholic.
7. A film titled "Cocktail" was being made in 2009 but got shelved. Starring Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Prachi Desai, Genelia Dsouza, Neha Dhupia, Boman Irani, Sherlyn Chopra, Paresh Rawal. Directed by Pankaj Prashar.
8. Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor were offered the film but did not like the script.
9. Diana Penty made her acting debut in this movie.
10. Anurag Kashyap was to write the story and screenplay of the film but later opted out.
11. Boman Irani worked with Dimple Kapadia's Son in Law Akshay Kumar in Housefull 2 which was released in the same year
