Avihitham Movie (2025)

Set in a quiet village in northern Kerala, Avihitham (meaning “Illicit”) begins with a seemingly trivial incident, in which a villager named Prakashan spots a young man and woman sharing a secret moment under the moonlight. What starts as idle gossip quickly spirals into a full-blown “investigation” led by a group of self-appointed moral guardians. Convinced of an illicit affair, these men weave stories, jump to conclusions, and plan elaborate schemes to expose the woman involved.

Through sharp observational humor and layered storytelling, the film explores themes of patriarchy, gossip, fragile male ego, and moral policing. It holds a mirror to society’s obsession with controlling women’s identities while ignoring its own hypocrisy. With witty dialogues, natural performances, and grounded cinematography, Avihitham is a satirical slice-of-life drama that makes you laugh, think, and reflect on the absurdity of collective judgment.
