Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal recently appeared on Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out podcast. Viewers quickly noticed a small metallic device attached near his temple. The unusual gadget went viral online, with social media users flooding platforms with guesses, jokes and memes. Some said it looked like a microphone, while others compared it to an external SSD. Well, that unusual device is called Temple, an experimental health-tech wearable that monitors brain blood flow.

Temple first drew attention in November 2025 when Goyal posted photos from a Feeding India school visit. In one of the pictures, people noticed that small metallic device stuck near his right temple.

What exactly is Temple?

Temple is an experimental health-tech wearable developed under companies linked to Deepinder Goyal, including Eternal, the parent company of Zomato. According to Goyal, the device is designed to monitor blood flow to the brain in real time. It reportedly uses advanced sensors and AI to collect brain circulation data.

The wearable is not ready for consumers yet and is currently being tested. Although small in size, Temple is said to provide helpful insights about how the brain functions.

Temple is also linked to the Gravity Ageing Hypothesis. This theory suggests that gravity may play a hidden role in how humans age. Since people spend most of their time sitting or standing upright, gravity may limit blood flow moving upward to the brain. Goyal has reportedly invested over $25 million (around Rs 225 crore) into long-term research and technology development.

Well, only time will tell how well the device would work.
