Jio has announced new prepaid voice-only plans in India, following similar moves from Airtel and Vodafone Idea. The move follows recent directions from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), which mandated voice-only tariffs in telecom companies’ recharge catalogues. The new recharge plans span four categories, with validity ranging from 22 days to a calendar month. Earlier, the company already offered two voice-only recharge packs, Rs 448 and Rs 1,748.
Here is a detailed breakdown of these plans for better context.
Rs 147: The voice plan comes with a validity of 22 days and offers unlimited calling and 300 SMS during the validity period. The per-day usage cost of this recharge is Rs 6.68.
Rs 177: This recharge pack offers a higher validity of 28 days and gets unlimited calling and 300 SMS. The plan has a per-day recharge cost of Rs 6.32.
Rs 196: Offering a validity of 30 days, this plan brings unlimited calls and 300 SMS. The per-day expense for this plan comes out to Rs 6.53/day.
Rs 197: The voice pack gets unlimited calling and 300 SMS per day with a validity of one calendar month. This plan’s per-day recharge cost varies depending on the days in the recharge month.
Apart from these new plans, the company offers Rs 448 and 1,748 plans with a validity of 84 days and 336 days, respectively. Additionally, these recharges bring bundled benefits such as JioTV and JioAICloud. All the above-stated plans do not offer mobile data benefits.

The voice-only plans are mainly targeted towards users who use a feature phone, have multiple SIMs or or are entirely dependent on Wi-Fi or alternative forms of connections to access the internet. These recharges offer a more economical option for these consumers to continue using calling services.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a recharge that offers a small amount of cellular data and still costs under Rs 200, consider checking Jio’s Rs 189 plan. The recharge pack brings benefits such as unlimited voice calls, 300 SMS and 2GB data for 28 days. The plan also bundles JioTV and JioAICloud benefits.
