Xiaomi working on bezel-less Mi5 smartphone for CES 2015

The Xiaomi Mi5 will reportedly be priced at around Rs. 21,000 and will also feature a fingerprint sensor.

India is officially behind on Xiaomi flagships now. While the Xiaomi Mi3 was launched and discontinued within a month, the Mi4 is expected early next year. According to recent reports though, the company is expected to unveil the Mi5 in the upcoming CES in January 2015. The company only recently completed the first batch of devices in India, with the Xiaomi Redmi Note going on sale on December 2. Its portfolio currently includes the Mi3, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note, out of which, only the last one is currently selling in India.

Rumours and leaked images about the Xaiomi Mi5 suggest that the company will be bringing a bezel-less smartphone next. The device will have a 5.7 inch Quad-HD display along with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC and the Adreno 430 GPU. The camera on this device will be the 20.7 MP shooter that Sony uses for its high end Xperia devices like the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact.

If that wasn’t enough, reports also say that the device will include a fingerprint scanner and will be sold for an off contract price of $325 (approx Rs. 21,000). All of this sounds impossible, but we have come to expect such things from the Chinese company. Of course, none of these reports are confirmed yet, so we’ll have to wait and watch what happens.
