After the S26 series, Samsung plans to go big with the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. These devices are expected to launch in July, possibly on July 22. While the Z Flip 8 is expected to receive incremental upgrades, all attention is focused on the Z Fold 8. The device is said to receive essential battery, performance, and camera upgrades over the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Again, we don’t know much about the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but here are the potential upgrades that you may get over its predecessor, according to leaks.
Starting with the display, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may get the same 8-inch inner panel and 6.5-inch cover screen with up to 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2600 nits. However, the Fold 8 is tipped to introduce a dual-layer Ultra Thin Glass structure along with a redesigned support plate. This means you can expect a creaseless display this time.
In terms of performance, the Fold 8 is expected to be powered by the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, replacing the previous-generation processor used in the Fold 7. The company may also upgrade thermal management by introducing a vapor chamber cooling system. It may get the same 16GB RAM and 1TB storage option.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to have a 5,000mAh battery, up from 4,400mAh on the Fold 7, as well as faster 45W charging support. On the software front, both models are subject to Samsung’s long-term update policy, though the Fold 8 is expected to ship with a newer version of One UI running on Android 17. There are also indications that S Pen support may return after being absent on the Fold 7.

In terms of the camera, the device may get the same 200MP primary sensor but improved secondary sensors. The report suggests that the ultrawide camera would move from 12MP to 50MP. However, we do not know much about the front camera as of now.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to debut in India starting at around Rs 1,74,999 for the base variant. Higher storage models could go up to Rs 2,16,999. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is currently available at lower prices, thanks to the ongoing discounts.
