HIGHLIGHTS

Customers can preorder the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus from Flipkart, beginning September 29 at 23:59 hours. The smartphones will be available from October 7.

The Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, which will go on sale in India on October 7, can be pre-ordered starting midnight tonight from Flipkart. The iPhone 7 will start at Rs. 60,000 for the 32GB variant, whereas the iPhone 7 Plus will sell from Rs. 72,000 onwards. It's nice to see that the base storage variant is 32GB, and not 16GB. The 128GB and 256GB variants of the iPhone 7 are priced at Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 80,000 respectively. The same storage options for the iPhone 7 Plus are priced at Rs. 82,000 and Rs. 92,000, respectively.

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have been available in the Indian grey market for a whopping 1 lakh rupees or more, based on the storage and colour you are looking for. It looks like Apple has realised the popularity of the smartphone in India, along with the increasing buying power of the consumer. In the early days of the iPhone, the smartphone would launch about nine months after its international release. This release window has reduced to a month or two, recently.

Coming to the specifications, the iPhone 7 has a 4.7-inch display with resolution of 750×1334 pixels. The iPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5-inch, 1080p display. Both the smartphones are IP67 certified for dust and water resistance, and come in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variants. Both are powered by Apple's A10 Fusion quad-core processors, but the iPhone 7 has 2GB RAM, while the iPhone 7 Plus has 3GB RAM. The rear of the iPhone 7 has a 12MP camera with phase detection autofocus, OIS and quad-LED (dual-tone) flash. The iPhone 7 Plus, meanwhile, houses dual-12MP rear cameras with phase detection autofocus, 2x optical zoom and quad-LED (dual tone) flash. The front of both the devices flaunt 7MP selfie cameras. The iPhone 7 has a 1960mAh battery, whereas the iPhone 7 Plus has a 2900mAh battery.

October 7 is almost here, and we are ready to hit the streets during the midnight launch of the iPhone. Until then, you can enjoy the midnight launch of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in India, as we encountered last year:
