Oppo refocuses on the budget segment after a slew of flagship launches with the Neo 5.

There has been an influx of Chinese manufacturers in the budget segment in India, and many have become extremely popular among budget-minded consumers. Aware of this lucrative segment, Oppo has launched its Neo 5 Smartphone in India, priced at Rs. 9,990.

When you look at the specs, however, it doesn’t seem to be at par with the competition. It has a 4.5 Inch IPS Screen with a low resolution of 854×480 pixels, which isn’t sharp at all, especially considering the HD screens on the competition. It is protected by Dragontrail Glass, and the back is covered by glass that is supposedly military-grade. Under the hood is a quad-core Mediatek 6582 processor running at 1.3 GHz, paired with 1GB of RAM. You get 8GB of internal storage, expandable to 32GB via microSD cards. The camera includes an 8MP Sony IMX 179 BSI (Back side illuminated) sensor that can be found in phones like the Nexus 5 and the Nubia Z9, and the front camera is a 2MP sensor. Powering it all is a 2000mAh battery.

Considering the specs, we would say too little too late, since almost all other phones in this segment are better in every aspect.
