Nokia has tied up with Bharath University, based out of Chennai, to offer students education in mobile technology. Still the largest manufacturer of mobiles in the world, Nokia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the university, one that says it will share its expertise with students, in courses designed on current industry standards.
According to reports, meritorious students of the new courses at the university will be given industrial training. After successful completion of the course, students will receive certification from Nokia, becoming Nokia Developer Launchpad Members. The certification will give the students access to the latest technologies being used by the Finnish giant, and further access to global and regional training.
Speaking on the education partnership, Jasmeet Gandhi, head of services marketing at Nokia India, said:
“We envisage a huge requirement for qualified professionals in the field of mobile technology over the next 4-5 years. We are associating with various colleges to increase our talent pool. This knowledge sharing programme is a step towards achieving that goal”
The statement leads us to believe that other institutions will follow soon, also offering Nokia-helmed mobile technology courses.
