Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone is soon going to become a reality. We’ve already seen major leaks around the phone, which have revealed a bunch of new details. However, more recently, fresh images of a new iPhone Fold case have allegedly surfaced online that have tied the device to the name “iPhone Ultra”. The leaked images have offered the clearest look yet at what Apple is bringing into the market, and it is much different from what everyone expected. Without wasting much time, let’s take a detailed look at the latest iPhone Ultra details.
First up, the most telling detail from the leaked case images is the orientation of the phone. Unlike most other foldables that feature a tall, portrait-style design, Apple is reportedly planning something different. They’re going with a much wider design rather than taller, giving it a landscape-leaning aspect ratio closer to an iPad than a traditional folded phone.
When unfolded, the device is said to feature a 7.8-inch inner OLED display alongside a 5.5-inch outer screen. Safe to say that this combination would put it as an iPhone/iPad hybrid rather than simply a bigger phone. The case also confirms MagSafe compatibility, meaning Apple’s accessory ecosystem will carry over to the foldable as well.
Moving on to the specifications, at least from the rumoured paper specifications, it looks like the iPhone Foldable is going to be a complete powerhouse. It is said to run on Apple’s A20 Pro chip paired with 12GB of RAM, while a dedicated C2 chip would handle battery efficiency. Reports suggest that the phone could also feature a massive 5,800mAh battery, which would also be the largest battery ever in an iPhone.
In terms of optics, the cameras could feature a dual camera setup where there would be a 48MP main shooter and a 48MP ultrawide camera. So far, there are no details that hint towards the addition of a telephoto camera. The interesting bit, however, is the biometrics, as it looks like Apple could shift away from Face ID, with Touch ID implemented into the power button instead, just like the iPad.
Last but not least, Apple is also said to be prioritising a nearly invisible crease on the display, similar to what we’ve seen from other Android makers in the foldable space. The phone would measure 9.5 mm thick when folded and 4.5 mm slim when open, which would make it even thinner than the iPhone Air. Safe to say that it will definitely shake up the foldable market upon its release.
