HIGHLIGHTS

Google Pixel 4’s Motion Sense feature could be supported in limited regions.

The leaked list of regions doesn’t include India.

Some music apps from India are a part of the list, suggesting that the option might be enabled later.

One of the officially outed ipieces of nformation about the upcoming Google Pixel 4 is that the handset will support motion gestures. The company will be integrating the Soli Radar chip on the Pixel 4 series of phones so that they can track a user’s hand gestures and execute a task that’s assigned to that particular gesture. While we previously came across a report that claimed this feature would work only in select countries, 9to5Google claims that it was able to get its hands on a pre-release APK of Motion Sense, which reveals 38 regions and 9 media apps could support the feature.

Soon after, XDA Developers also reported of finding a more comprehensive list of countries where the option could be made available. This list reveals 53 regions and 23 media apps that support Motion Sense. While some countries like Canada, UK, Australia and the US are present on the list, India is surprisingly missing. However, the list of 23 media apps that will support Motion Sense includes apps like Wynk Music, Gaana, Hungama, and JioSaavn among others. These apps are widely used in India and the inclusion of these apps suggests that the company might be planning to bring Motion Sense support for the Pixel 4 handsets that would be sold in India.

As for the new Soli Radar chip Google is using on its Pixel 4 series of phones, ṭhe hardware enables one to use gestures for conṭroling the device’s functions. Skipping tracks while listening to music, accepting or rejecting calls and snoozing alarms by simply waving your hand over the device. The sensor is said to be capable of detecting sub-millimeter motion gestures at high speeds and that too, with notable accuracy.

Coming to the Pixel phones, the Pixel 4 will reportedly feature a 5.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display while the Pixel 4 XL might get a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ OLED display. The handsets might support 90Hz display refresh rate that Google is reportedly dubbing “Smooth Display". The phones are expected to run on Snapdragon 855+ SoC and might come equipped with 6GB RAM.
