Nokia made the announcement from its official account on Chinese microblogging website Weibo.

HMD Global was supposed to launch a Nokia ‘X-series’ smartphone, reportedly the Nokia X5, on July 11 in China, but the company cancelled the event. While some reports claimed that there was an issue with the venue, others said the bad weather forced the company to postpone the event. At that time, the company did not reveal a possible future launch date, but now it has. Nokia, on its official Weibo account, announced that it will unveil the new X-series Nokia phone on July 18.

The speculated Nokia X5, is likely to be called the Nokia 5.1 Plus globally. A few renders of the phone were leaked recently, showing a Nokia-branded device with a notch and thin bezels on the side. The photos in the leak showed a dual-camera setup, an LED flash, and a fingerprint scanner on a glass back panel of the device. A total of two colours, Blue and Black, were shown in the leaks.

When it comes to the specifications, the Nokia X5 could be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor, complemented with three RAM option: 3GB, 4GB and 6GB. The device may be offered in two storage capacities: 32GB and 64GB. It is expected to sport a 5.8-inch HD+ display and a 13MP + 5MP dual-camera setup on the back, with an 8MP upfront. It might have a 3,000 mAh battery. The smartphone is also tipped to start at a price of CNY 799 (approx Rs 8,288) for the 32GB variant and CNY 999 (approx Rs 10,363) for the 64GB model.
