Acer has announced a new series of notebooks, called the Acer Aspire Ethos series, which delivers cutting-edge design along with high-end multimedia performance. There are two models in the Aspire Ethos series, namely the top-end 8943G and the bottom-end 5943G. Acer has clearly pulled out all the stops when assigning specification to this series, and these are some seriously loaded machines.
The Acer Aspire Ethos 8943G laptop comes with Core i7-820QM (1.73GHz that can Turbo to 3.06GHz and has 8MB L3 Cache), a 18.4 inch screen that delivers 1920×1080 resolution, a 5.1 surround sound system (with 5-speakers and sub-woofer built in), an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 graphics card (the highest-end Mobility Radeon there is), a 4800 mAh battery, and up to 1.28TB of storage (2x640GB).
The Acer Aspire Ethos 5943G laptop comes with Core i7-820QM (1.73GHz that can Turbo to 3.06GHz and has 8MB L3 Cache), a 15.6 inch screen that delivers 1366×768 resolution, a 2.1 surround sound system (with 2-speakers and sub-woofer built in), an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 graphics card (the highest-end Mobility Radeon there is), a 4800 mAh battery, and up to 640GB storage.
The laptops come with a choice of Blu-ray or DVD drive, and also have the following connectivity options: WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, eSATA, USB 2.0, FireWire, HDMI and VGA. The machines also have fingerprint readers and webcams. Prices and availability are not known yet, but we can expect these machines to be very, very heavy on the pocket.
