Apple is one big competitor in the tech world and all the other major tech companies always try to beat it off. Now, in a new development, we hear that Microsoft could be challenging Apple. Microsoft claims that its newest range of laptops will be faster than Apple’s M3 MacBook Air laptops. The new set of laptops by Microsoft will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor, which is quite powerful.

The Verge was able to get its hands on certain internal documents which reveal that Microsoft is pretty confident about these new processors paired with its laptops. It further says that because of these new processors the company will easily be able to beat the latest M3 chip on the Apple MacBook Air.

Well, Microsoft is not just throwing airshots with its claims. The report reveals that it will prove its claims with the help of various demonstrations. It will prove the superiority of its laptops in areas such as CPU tasks, AI acceleration, and app emulation. The company believes that this is better than Apple when speaking about app-emulation, and even surpasses the efficiency of Apple’s Rosetta 2.

How is the Snapdragon X Elite chipset better than Apple’s M3?

The Snapdragon X Elite chipset was unveiled in October last year. Speaking of its build, it has a similar Arm-based architecture to Apple’s chipset. According to Qualcomm, this chipset achieved a 21% boost in multi-core CPU performance compared to Apple’s M3 chip, based on benchmarks from Geekbench 6.

Microsoft could beat Apple

There are a couple of things that we need to consider. Firstly, the upcoming Microsoft laptops are being compared with Apple’s M3 chipset. The M3 is a lower-end chipset, while the M3 Pro and M3 Max are the more premium variants. Secondly, it is expected that the laptops with the Snapdragon X Elite will require fans and may run hotter. Apple, on the other hand, went fanless back in 2020. Lastly, the macOS also provides optimised performance overall. So, it is going to be a tough fight.

Microsoft is expected to announce the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6, with Snapdragon X Elite chipset on May 20th.
