X down: Elon Musk-owned social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) is currently facing a service disruption in India. Users, on Tuesday evening, started reporting difficulties logging into the platform across both desktop and mobile platforms. According to data from Downdetector, over 2,000 users in India reported problems around 7:43 PM IST. Usually, when platforms go down, people flock to X to express their frustrations or seek updates. However, with X itself down, many found themselves without their go-to space for live reactions. Check all details regarding the X outage below.

X down in India

The service disruption in India began on Tuesday evening, with users reporting trouble logging in and loading content on both desktop and mobile devices. According to Downdetector, more than 2,000 users in India flagged issues around 7:43 pm IST.Data showed that 46% of users struggled to access the website, while 41% faced problems using the mobile app. The remaining 13% reported server connection issues. The outage appeared more severe in major cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Indore, Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Many users said timelines were not refreshing, while others were unable to log in at all.

X outage report worldwide

The disruption was not limited to India. Downdetector also recorded a spike in complaints from the United States at the same time, with over 20,000 users reporting problems. In the United States, most of the users who encountered issues claimed that the app was not working. Some of the users also complained of issues pertaining to the website or the feed that did not load.

Major cities like Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago were among the regions affected. Currently, there is no official statement from X regarding the reason for the interruption and when full services will resume to normal.

X response on the issue

At the time of writing, there have been no official statements from X addressing the global outage or stating the cause of the disruption. Furthermore, the company’s support channels have also not posted any updates confirming whether the issue is being investigated or resolved. This has left users in a major state of uncertainty, as they do not have any expected recovery timelines.
