Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke to employees during an all-hands meeting on Thursday, covering topics from immigration and artificial intelligence to succession and the company’s upcoming 50th anniversary. Cook began by addressing concerns about immigration in the United States. He said he was upset by how current policies are affecting people, including Apple employees, reports Bloomberg. ‘I’ve heard from some of you that don’t feel comfortable leaving your homes,’ he said. ‘No one should feel this way. No one.’

He explained that immigration matters deeply to Apple because many workers rely on visas to live and work in the US. ‘For as long as I can remember, we have been a smarter, wiser, more innovative company because we’ve attracted the best and brightest from all corners of the world,’ Cook said. He promised to stay involved with lawmakers, adding, ‘I am going to continue to lobby lawmakers on this issue. You have my word on that.’

Cook also briefly discussed leadership succession. ‘I spend a lot of time thinking about who’s in the room five years from now, 10 years from now. I am obsessed with this – who’s in the room 15 years from now.’
