scam
Scams are increasing every day. We’ve all heard about the digital arrest scam, KYC scam, credit card scam, courier scam, and whatnot. Just when we think we’ve seen it all, a new scam pops up. This time, it’s a robocall that threatens to cut off your phone services unless you press 9 to “know more.” Sounds familiar? You’re not alone.
Popular tipster Abhishek Yadav recently shared on X (formerly Twitter), warning users about this new trick. He wrote, “New scam. I just received a robocall from a mobile number saying that my phone services will be terminated today. To know the reason, it asked me to press 9.” The tipster also shared the number from which he received the call: +917971813559.
At first glance, it may seem like a genuine warning from your service provider, but it’s actually a trap. Once you press 9, you may be connected to a scammer pretending to be from a telecom company. They may try to steal your personal information, ask for your OTP, or even convince you to download apps that give them access to your phone.

What’s dangerous is that these calls come from regular mobile numbers and sound automated, which makes them seem more believable. Scammers use these robocalls to scare people into acting quickly without thinking twice.
