Samsung’s much-awaited Android XR headset, known internally as Project Moohan, is reportedly facing yet another delay. Earlier reports suggested the headset would be released on September 29, but a new report by ETNews claims the official launch will now take place on October 21. The delay is reportedly tied to quality checks and adjustments in Samsung’s marketing strategy.
When it does arrive, the XR headset will serve as Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Vision Pro. Samsung is said to be preparing an initial shipment of 100,000 units, with sales likely happening online. It’s unclear, however, whether the device will roll out worldwide or be restricted to select markets.

Samsung’s XR headset is expected to feature a micro OLED display from Samsung Display with 3800 pixels per inch (ppi). It is rumoured to come with 16GB of RAM and run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip. Google’s Gemini AI and apps will likely be deeply integrated. Pricing details remain under wraps, but early rumours suggest it will be on the higher side. Since it’s positioned against the $3,500 Vision Pro, Samsung’s headset was never expected to be budget-friendly.
Alongside the XR headset, Samsung fans were also expecting the debut of the company’s first tri-fold smartphone this month. That won’t happen either. According to the report, the foldable phone will be revealed at a separate event and could be released in late October or November instead.

Samsung is also reportedly developing XR smart glasses, codenamed Haean, which are expected to launch early next year, possibly alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
