OnePlus is gearing up to launch OxygenOS 16 on October 16, and the company has started teasing how the new operating system will look like. Expected to debut on the OnePlus 15, OxygenOS 16 is based on Android 16 and promises a range of improvements in multitasking, connectivity, and overall user experience. A dedicated landing page for the update gives us a closer look at some of the upcoming changes.
One of the biggest highlights of OxygenOS 16 will be its focus on seamless multitasking. The company claims the update will provide a “zero-lag” multitasking experience. Users will be able to scroll through Instagram Reels for three hours without any slowdown, according to OnePlus. Gaming multitasking will also be improved, with support for switching between 120Hz Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and phone calls while recording the screen without any lag for up to an hour.
OxygenOS 16 will bring several new connectivity options. Users will be able to drag and drop files, mirror their phone screens on macOS and Windows PCs. The update will also make it easier to sync OnePlus devices with Apple Watch, iPhone, OnePlus tablets, and other OnePlus phones.

Older flagships such as the OnePlus 12, 12R, and 11 series will be next in line. Mid-range Nord devices, including the Nord 5, Nord 4, and Nord 3, are likely to receive the update later. The Nord models like the Nord CE 4, Nord CE 4 Lite, and Nord 3 are expected to receive the final update based on OnePlus’ current software policy.
