Bad news for OnePlus fans. The brand may soon shut down its business in India as part of a major global restructuring by its parent company Oppo. OnePlus is expected to start winding down its operations in the US and Europe as early as this week. Oppo reportedly plans to gradually shut down OnePlus in other global markets, including India, sometime in 2027. The restructuring is also expected to impact Realme, with the brand reportedly set to exit the China market.
According to Bloomberg, Oppo is making these changes because its smartphone business has been facing financial challenges. The report says the company has struggled to gain momentum in markets such as the US, Europe and India. It also points to geopolitical concerns around Chinese smartphone brands in the US and an ongoing trade secrets lawsuit involving Apple.
As part of the restructuring, Oppo is expected to focus more on Central Europe. The company will also reportedly focus on selling Realme smartphones in Nordic countries such as Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland, where it has seen better results.

OnePlus was once known for its smartphones at competitive prices. The brand built a loyal fan base by offering strong performance with clean software and affordable pricing. However, the company’s position in the smartphone market has weakened over the past few years. In the US, Apple and Samsung continue to dominate, while OnePlus now trails behind brands like Motorola and Google in market share, as per the report.
The report also highlighted that rising component costs and higher memory prices have made it more difficult for smartphone makers to build affordable devices. This has affected OnePlus, especially its Nord series, which is focused on budget-friendly smartphones.

Earlier this year, reports claimed that OnePlus was scaling back its operations internally and had cancelled several upcoming devices. Robin Liu, who was OnePlus India CEO at the time, denied those claims. In a post on X, he said, “I wanted to address some misinformation that has been circulating about OnePlus India and its operations. We’re operating as usual and will continue to do so.”
For now, OnePlus has not made any official announcement about shutting down its India business.
