Cupertino-based tech giant Apple has announced its “Pro and tell” event, where the company is expected to unveil a host of personal computing devices and a new mini tablet. Days ahead of a possible debut, the price of the OLED MacBook Pro with touchscreen leaked online, which hints at a price hike of around $300-$500 compared to its preceding models. For the unaware, the price of the OLED iPad mini also leaked earlier. Beyond these two devices, the iPhone maker is also expected to launch a new iMac and an M6-powered MacBook Pro in non-OLED and non-touch trims. For more context, here are the anticipated details on the devices expected to debut on October 28.
Citing Counterpoint Research’s David Naranjo, a Tom’s Guide report speculates the 14-inch MacBook Pro will sit in the $2,799 to $2,999 price range. For context, the MacBook Pro M5 Pro 14-inch trim currently starts at $2,499. The pricing of this MacBook Pro starts at Rs 2,99,900 in India.
This price range could mean the base OLED MacBook Pro could start at around Rs 3.5 lakh in the country. However, readers should note that these are anticipations and the details may change when Apple officially announces the prices. The price hike could be due to the ongoing memory and storage crisis and notable upgrades such as the tandem OLED and touchscreen panel.
Moving to other leaks, the OLED MacBook Pro may offer a Dynamic Island as a replacement for the notch, M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets and a lighter design in two display sizes: 14-inch and 16-inch.
Apple may also announce an OLED iPad mini at the event, which may offer a front camera in landscape orientation, an A20 Pro processor, better speakers and water resistance, among key upgrades. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hints the upcoming iPad mini may start around $799, which could translate to around Rs 1 lakh in India.
