Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, has officially gone on sale in India today, October 23. The launch marks Apple’s entry into the book-style foldable smartphone market, where it competes with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a passport-like design. Even though the phone comes with a high price tag of Rs 2,99,900, some Apple fans were ready to pay the premium to get their hands on it early. Buyers arrived at Apple Stores in Delhi, Mumbai and Noida to collect their pre-ordered devices as the sale began at 8 AM. Akshat became the first person to buy the iPhone Duo at Apple’s Saket Store in Delhi. When asked about spending Rs 2,99,900 on the device, his father said that they wanted it for “exclusivity”. Akshat also shared his thoughts on the launch-day experience. He said, “I expected that there would be huge queues outside the store, but there are not. I feel the phone is very premium. An iPhone is an iPhone and it gives the right feel.”
The first buyer at Apple’s BKC Store in Mumbai travelled all the way from Surat to get the device. However, he did not plan to keep it for personal use. He plans to give it to someone else as part of a giveaway. He said, “It feels good to get the iPhone Duo but I love to use iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.”
Meanwhile, an Apple fan travelled from Chandigarh to the Noida store to pick up three pre-ordered iPhone Duo units, spending around Rs 9 lakh. He said the devices were Diwali gifts for his wife and son, adding that their exclusivity was a key reason behind his purchase.

The iPhone Duo is Apple’s most expensive iPhone to date. It starts at Rs 2,99,900 for the 256GB variant. The 512GB variant is priced at Rs 3,24,900, while the 1TB model costs Rs 3,74,900. The top-end 2TB variant costs Rs 4,49,900.
