IRCTC has recently introduced a refreshed website with several improvements to make train ticket booking faster and easier. The upgraded platform can handle many more bookings and enquiries every minute, reducing delays during busy hours, especially for Tatkal tickets. It also removes CAPTCHA during booking, improves page loading speed, and offers useful features like preferred seat selection, a fare calendar, and multilingual support. Special services for Divyangjan passengers, students, and patients have also been combined in one place for greater convenience. While some interface changes are already visible, the complete rollout of the new IRCTC website is still awaited, with an official launch expected after the beta testing phase. IRCTC website: What’s new

The new and upgraded IRCTC website is said to be able to handle up to 1.5 lakh ticket bookings per minute. When compared to the earlier capacity of 32,000 bookings per minute, this is a significant jump. You will also get a smooth experience when checking train status and booking details even during peak hours, as the PNR and train enquiries have been increased to 40 lakh requests per minute from the earlier 4 lakh limit.

With the new and refreshed website, the IRCTC has removed CAPTCHA tests in the booking process. This alone has increased the pace of the ticket booking process. Furthermore, page load time has also been improved, especially when making Tatkal bookings.

Passengers can now use a preferred seat or berth selection option while booking tickets. The website now also features a fare calendar which helps the user to view the cost of tickets on various days before purchasing the tickets. Multilingual options have also been provided on the website, which makes it more convenient for people all around the nation to use the website.

Apart from that, the services offered to Divyangjan passengers, students and patients have also been consolidated into one. As per the information provided by IRCTC, the new version of the reservation system has been developed in such a way that it is capable of handling 10 times more traffic compared to the previous version with an agile architecture. This upgrade is also available through the RailOne mobile app so that the user gets a similar improvement experience whether he uses the computer or the mobile phone.

Is the new IRCTC website live?

At the time of writing we found that there have been certain changes to the user interface of the IRCTC website. Though there has been no official announcement for the launch of the new IRCTC website for now. Previously, the government had confirmed that only the beta version of the IRCTC website would be launched on July 15, and the full rollout will only be done after a few months along with the redesigned passenger reservation engine. Hence, an official announcement is expected after the complete roll out of the new website.
