The Telegram app has been one of the most popular messaging apps in India for a while now. Used by millions for communication, sharing information and to store notes and educational material. However, the platform faced a temporary ban recently after allegations that it was being used to scam students and collect money by promising access to leaked NEET and other competitive exam papers. Authorities decided to restrict access to the app until the Re-NEET exam was completed. Now, a new video circulating on X claims that the exam paper was leaked again through Telegram. However, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam, has officially reviewed the claim and dismissed it. NTA recently posted a clarification from its official X handle stating that the agency had reviewed the content shared in the viral video which claims that the Re-NEET exam was leaked a day before and found that the allegations were false. Not only that but they also urged the students and parents to rely only on official updates and avoid sharing unverified information.

Calling the creation and circulation of such content a serious offence, the NTA said it is working with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and law-enforcement agencies to identify those responsible for the video. Officials said legal action is being initiated against people involved in spreading the misinformation.

The agency also stressed that the re-examination was conducted under strict security arrangements. According to NTA, Aadhaar-based biometric verification, face authentication, CCTV surveillance, signal jammers and two-layer frisking were used at examination centres. Monitoring centres were also set up at the national, state and district levels.
More than 20 lakh candidates took the re-test across 5,440 centres in India and 14 centres abroad. The examination was conducted in 13 languages. Around 7 lakh personnel, including police teams, observers and examination staff, were deployed to manage the exercise.

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said a coordinated effort by various government agencies helped conduct the examination within 37 days. He acknowledged a few isolated incidents involving forged admit cards, impersonation attempts and candidates trying to carry mobile phones into centres but said security measures successfully detected and stopped such cases.
The provisional answer key for NEET-UG 2026 is expected to be released around June 28, and the candidates will be allowed to raise objections before the final answer key and results are announced.
