Google’s Nano Banana, an image editing model, is rapidly gaining popularity, especially among Instagram users who are leveraging it to create AI-generated portraits. Building on its success in the Gemini app, Google is now expanding Nano Banana’s capabilities to several other platforms, including Google Search, NotebookLM, and soon, Google Photos.
For those unaware, Nano Banana AI allows users to generate and edit images by simply describing what they want in natural language. According to the tech giant, this tool has already been used to create over 5 billion images, showcasing its widespread appeal.
Now, Nano Banana is integrated into Google Search through the Lens and AI Mode. Users can snap a photo using Google Lens or select one from their gallery, then tap the new Create mode to instantly transform their image with AI.

In NotebookLM, Nano Banana enhances the Video Overviews feature by offering six new visual styles, such as watercolor and anime. It also generates contextual illustrations based on your notes and introduces a new Brief format for quick insights.
“This update continues our work to make information more accessible and useful by transforming dense information into dynamic multimedia that helps people understand complex topics in new ways,” the company explained.

Google plans to bring Nano Banana to Google Photos. This integration will enable users to edit and enhance their photos directly within the Photos app, making advanced image editing more accessible than ever.
