Google seems to be working on a new feature that will make using multiple Android devices a lot smoother. A new feature called Handoff has been spotted in the beta version of Google Play Services, and it could soon allow users to continue tasks seamlessly across their Android devices, just like Apple’s Handoff does.
The strings found by Android Authority in the Google Play Services v25.25.31 beta reveal that the Handoff feature will let users access apps, media and notifications across devices. Notification syncing is something Android users have wanted for a long time. Right now, you often have to clear the same notification on every device you own. With this feature, once you dismiss a notification on one device, it should disappear on your others too.

Apple offers a similar Continuity feature known as Handoff, which allows users to start a task on one Apple device and seamlessly continue it on another as long as both devices are signed into the same iCloud account. Similarly, Samsung’s App Continuity lets users easily transfer files, answer calls, connect earbuds, share hotspots and more across their linked Galaxy devices. It seems like Google is taking inspiration from them.

Google hasn’t officially confirmed this feature yet, so it’s unclear when (or if) it will roll out to users. However, based on the presence of this code in Google Play Services, it’s likely that this will not be limited to Pixel devices, but instead be available on all Android devices with Google Play Services installed.
Handoff could be a game-changer for users who switch between multiple Android devices throughout the day.
