The government has recently announced an annual FASTag pass plan for daily highway commuters, aiming to reduce traffic at tolls. Slated to start from August 15, 2025, the annual pass is priced at Rs 3,000. Users can get as many as 200 toll crossings or a year of validity, whichever comes first, for the aforementioned amount. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), this scheme will reduce the annual toll expense for regular highway commuters by 70% as it will save around Rs 7,000 annually.
However, this is not applicable to commercial transporters, including taxis, buses, or trucks. Here’s everything from eligibility to application process that you need to know about the annual FASTag pass.
The FASTag annual pass is only applicable for private, non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. However, make sure that your FASTag is active and affixed properly.
It must be linked to a valid, non-blacklisted vehicle registration. Also, it shouldn’t be blacklisted or under any dispute.
