Elon Musk’s xAI has released Grok Imagine Video 1.5, its latest image-to-video AI model, as competition in AI video generation intensifies against OpenAI and Google. The company says the new model improves across every department that matters for real creative work, with specific gains in audio, motion physics and generation speed.
On audio, sound effects, ambience and dialogue are now generated in the same pass as the visuals rather than as a separate layer, which xAI says results in audio that lands more naturally on the action. Speech is also clearer and better synced to lip movement and timing.
On motion, xAI says movement holds together more consistently across the length of a clip, with fewer visual warps and more believable weight and momentum. This has historically been one of the more visible weaknesses in AI-generated video, where objects bend unnaturally or characters appear to float, so addressing it is a meaningful claim if it holds up in practice.
In addition, xAI claims Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Fast nearly doubles generation speed compared to the previous version, producing a 6-second video at 720p resolution in approximately 25 seconds, down from more than 40 seconds previously. For creators generating multiple versions of a clip before settling on a final cut, this is going to result in quicker outputs if the claim holds up.
Alongside the model itself, xAI is rolling out several productivity features over the coming days. Projects allows users to organise their generations into folders that appear in a left sidebar. Multiple agents lets users run several prompts in parallel rather than waiting for one generation to complete before starting the next. A new search function allows users to locate any previously generated image or video in their library directly, instead of scrolling through past creations.
Grok Imagine Video 1.5 is now generally available through the xAI API under the model name grok-imagine-video-1.5, where developers can provide a starting image, describe the desired motion and select resolution and duration. The Fast variant is available to end users today on grok.com/imagine, as well as through the Grok app on iOS and Android.
