SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has been quite vocal about the space related innovations and technology, has made a notable public statement regarding his personal well-being while appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast recently. The conversation, which covered the latest astronomical object of interest, interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS, led Musk to address online conjecture directly.
The podcast segment mainly focused on the unusual characteristics of 3I/ATLAS, the third confirmed object to pass through the outskirts of our solar system. During the discussion, the host Joe Rogan also referenced the theories suggesting that individuals uncovering evidence of extraterrestrial life face risks, a recurring theme in certain corners of the internet.
In response to the broader topic of secrecy surrounding potential alien contact, Musk offered a public commitment to transparency. He assured Rogan, “If I were aware of any evidence of aliens, Joe, you have my word I will come on your show and I will reveal it on the show.”

While scientists acknowledge the comet’s unusual nature, such as its rapid brightening and its composition, the consensus largely favors natural explanations.
Physicists like Avi Loeb have pointed to several statistical anomalies in the comet’s flight path and chemistry, suggesting it as evidence of an artificial object. Though fascinating, many in the astronomy community believe that these anomalies correspond with either a very uncommon kind of natural comet or something still unknown about interstellar objects.
For instance, observations confirmed that the comet is moving far too fast to be gravitationally bound to our Sun, confirming its interstellar origin. Moreover, the appearance of a “sunward jet” or anti-tail has been explained by some astronomers as an optical effect based on viewing geometry, similar to features seen in other comets.
NASA has recently confirmed that the comet 3I/ATLAS is not going to hit Earth. In fact, the closest it will ever get to us is when it’s actually on the far side of the Sun, so we’re safe. Now that it has passed its perihelion (its closest point to the Sun). The object is heading back out into space, giving scientists a limited time to study it.
