Cupertino-based tech giant Apple has released the iOS 27.2 update for eligible iPhone users in India. The changes include the redesigned Apple Music and enhancements for Siri AI. The update brings changes for the AI voice assistant that affect iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 series and later models. Beyond the iPhone’s features and enhancements, the company addressed over 300 vulnerabilities across its software products for iPads, Macs, Vision Pro and more, including more than 160 on iPhones alone. Here are the details about the updates that you should know.
As per the changelog, the AI-powered voice assistant can recall information from previous conversations to enable users to recall an answer that Siri gave in the past. Further, the assistant can now scrub information from more sources such as “photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, your voicemails, and better results from Safari history and Reading List”. For controlled app access, Excluded Apps can let users decide which apps the AI experience can access from a single setting.
Granular text selection now allows users to copy only a selected part of Siri’s response. Beyond these, Siri AI will be available in more languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. However, the language expansion will not be available in China and the European Union.
iOS 27.2 changelog highlights suggestions for Messages for quick replies. Meanwhile, minor changes include the Photos’ Shared Albums feature, SynthID watermarking for AI output, separate sections for New Episodes and Continue Playing in the Podcasts app, recent game and contextual friends suggestions in the Games app, FaceTime Dual Capture in group calls and changes in Apple TV and FaceTime were announced. Apart from these, the recent overhaul of the Apple Music icon and UI elements is also rolling out with the update, MacRumours reported.
Meanwhile, Apple fixed 329 vulnerabilities across software products such as iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS and more. In iOS 27.2, more than 160 security issues were fixed, with the notable ones being an Apple Intelligence flaw that may allow attackers to access sensitive data remotely and a vulnerability that could leak a user’s e-mail ID. Other bugs include 30 WebKit issues (that may allow arbitrary code execution by malicious websites) and around 15 kernel fixes.
Further, the majority of the vulnerabilities used to jailbreak the iPhone Duo were also fixed. A 9to5Mac report noted the issue affecting CoreMedia that could allow a malicious app to access an iPhone or other Apple product’s camera without permission. Other notable fixes include a macOS Tahoe Siri vulnerability that could allow apps to access sensitive information.
