After much delay, Apple seems to finally be taking AI seriously. This comes after a Bloomberg report claims that Apple is working on changing the way users interact with the search on iPhone with the upcoming iOS 27. The company is reportedly developing a new Siri Mode within the Camera app to make searching faster and better.
As per reports, the new mode could sit alongside existing camera options like Photo and Video, allowing users to switch seamlessly into an AI-powered interface. Once activated, the shutter button may transform into an interactive AI icon, enabling users to point their camera at objects and ask questions in real time.
The system is said to identify items such as posters, menus, or products and instantly provide relevant actions. For instance, scanning an event poster can create a calendar entry, while pointing at a restaurant menu might pull up reviews and additional details.

Along with simple objection recognition, the feature may also offer some practical use cases. The users may be able to scan food packaging to track nutritional data or capture contact details directly from business cards without manual input. However, Apple may still depend on AI tools like ChatGPT for more detailed queries.
Adding on, Mark Gurman’s report also suggests that Siri will evolve into a more conversational assistant with deeper system-level controls and possibly a standalone app. This will reportedly help Apple in making its ecosystem, including smart wearables like AI-enabled glasses or camera-equipped audio devices, better, where real-time visual understanding will play a key role.
It must be noted that Apple has not confirmed any of the details and all are just early leaks. The company may announce all these features at the WWDC 2026 when it will introduce iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and a new Mac update. The scheduled date for it is June 8.
