Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 26.4, introducing a range of new features, interface updates and security enhancements for iPhone users. The update is currently available only to developers, with a public beta expected soon and the final release likely to arrive later this spring. A major addition is the new Playlist Playground feature in Apple Music, which allows users to create playlists simply by typing a prompt. You can describe a mood, occasion or genre, and the app automatically generates a curated playlist complete with a suggested title that can be customised further, reports MacRumors.
The Music app also adds a Concerts Near You section to help users discover live events based on their listening habits, along with redesigned album and playlist pages that showcase full-screen artwork.

Apple Podcasts now supports video podcasts, letting users switch seamlessly between watching and listening to episodes. These videos can also be downloaded for offline viewing.
Security has been strengthened with Stolen Device Protection now enabled by default. Apple is also testing end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging in partnership with the GSM Association.
The update also introduces a new Ambient Music widget, as per the report. Also, the wallpaper and watch face galleries have been redesigned. Apple has also introduced a unified Apple Account interface across apps.

The iOS 26.4 beta 1 is currently limited to registered developers. Those enrolled in Apple’s Developer Program can install it by going to Settings, selecting General, tapping Software Update, and choosing Beta Updates. Once selected, the update will appear for download like a regular software update. Users who are not part of the developer programme will need to wait for the public beta.
