Anthropic is yet again in the limelight, and no, this time it’s not because of its AI models like Claude, Fable 5, and Mythos but because of the recent federal H-1B visa sponsorship filings. According to the data from the filings, the company pays some of the best salaries in the industry. While a handsome salary is expected from the AI firm, what caught everyone’s attention was that two employees with the title of Member of Technical Staff receive annual base salaries of $1.12 million and $1.38 million. What’s even more interesting is that the filings reveal only base pay and exclude bonuses and stock awards. Hence, many believe that the total pay that these two individuals are receiving is much more than expected. In Anthropic’s most recent 80 H-1B visa filings, the high salary packages of non-US workers employed by the organisation in the first two quarters of fiscal year 2026 are apparent. Even though the filings show the roles of employment along with their salaries, there is no information on the individuals who held these positions. It is, therefore, difficult to know if the high-salary earners are AI researchers, engineers or executive engineers.
The high pay package can also be attributed to the stiff competition for talent in the AI field. Organisations like Meta, Google, and OpenAI have continued to heavily recruit experienced engineers and researchers.

What’s more interesting is that the registered figures do not include the bonuses or equity received by the employees. These components play a major role in the salary breakdown and can make up a large share of total compensation.
Anthropic’s valuation reportedly climbed to $965 billion in May. This means that the employees who had stock options would have seen significant financial growth. Not only that, but the current figures also justify why the employee retention of the company is so good and how they attracted the engineers and researchers from their competitors like OpenAI and Google.
