Unlike the past few years, when gaming was seen as a luxury, getting into it now has never been easier, and all credit goes to the current-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, released in 2020. But now, since we’re in 2026, it does bring up a big question: when are we actually going to see the PS6 and the next-gen Xbox console? While we don’t yet have any details regarding Sony’s PS6, we do have some news about the release date for the next-gen Xbox. AMD’s CEO Lisa Su has seemingly confirmed the release of the next-gen Xbox, along with Valve’s Steam Machine, too. Let’s take a look at what she said exactly.

While Microsoft hasn’t been very vocal about the release date for their next Xbox console, AMD’s CEO Lisa Su talked about it in the latest earnings call. It does make sense that the news is coming from AMD, given that Microsoft has already announced a partnership with them, confirming that their next-gen console will be powered by custom AMD SoCs.
While speaking about the next-gen Xbox console at the earnings call, Lisa said, ‘Development of Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox featuring an AMD semi-custom SoC is progressing well to support a launch in 2027.’
Along with the next-gen Xbox console, the much-awaited device from Valve, the Steam Machine, is also on track to release this year. Valve announced the device, along with a few other products, late last year with a 2026 release date. However, ever since then we haven’t heard anything new about their full-fledged desktop/console hybrid.
But well, as per AMD’s CEO, the device is on track to begin shipping as expected, which is early 2026. While talking about the Steam Machine, Lisa Su said, ‘From a product standpoint, Valve is on-track to begin shipping its AMD-powered Steam Machine early this year.’
Valve has yet to announce pricing for the Steam Machine and other products like the Steam Frame. So far, we only know that the device will be available in multiple storage configurations. But now with the release schedule in hand, it is safe to say that Valve should announce the exact release date, along with pricing pretty soon.
