According to reports, Thamma is likely to stream on Amazon Prime Video from around December 16. Though an official announcement is yet to be made by the platform, early reports state that the film is likely to follow a two-step release pattern. It could first stream as an early-access rental for viewers who want to see the film before its general release. Following that, the movie can be made available to all Prime Video subscribers in India. This model has been tried by the streaming platform for many big theatrical releases in the last few months.

Thamma extends the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe by adding a vampire story that stays rooted in Indian folklore. The story is about Alok, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, working as a journalist. His life gets an unexpected twist when he falls in love with Tadaka, played by Rashmika Mandanna. Alok later finds that Tadaka belongs to the hidden group of Betaals who are led by the powerful Yakshasan, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. As secrets unravel, Alok and Tadaka join forces to take on the dark forces and preclude danger from reaching the human world.

Aditya Sarpotdar, who previously worked on Munjya, is directing the star cast of Thamma. The lead roles in the film are played by Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal are essaying pivotal roles in it. The movie also stars Varun Dhawan in a special appearance as his character from Bhediya, thereby connecting this story with other films in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The ending sets up another title that is expected to come out in the universe, titled Shakti Shalini, headlined by actor Aneet Padda.
