If you have already finished watching One Piece season 2 on Netflix and are thinking what comes next, you’re not alone. Well, the show is far from over, as it has already been renewed for a third season. Netflix confirmed season 3 even before the release of season 2, which clearly shows that the makers have strong faith in the show’s long-term success.
The first season of the live-action adaptation premiered in 2023 and quickly became a hit among fans of the original manga as well as new viewers. Season 2 followed later in March 2026. Over the first two seasons, viewers watched Luffy travel across the seas, recruit his rew members and fight powerful enemies.

While Netflix has confirmed that season 3 is happening, an exact release date has not been announced yet. However, reports suggest that the next season could arrive around mid-2027.
The gap between seasons might seem long, but it is not surprising considering the scale of the show. The series features large action sequences, detailed worlds and characters with supernatural abilities known as Devil Fruit powers. Bringing these elements to life requires a lot of visual effects, CGI work and post-production, which takes time.
The third season is expected to explore the Alabasta storyline from the original manga by Eiichiro Oda. In this arc, Luffy and the Straw Hat crew travel to a kingdom called Alabasta, where serious political tensions are threatening the stability of the country. A major character in this storyline is Nefertari Vivi, the princess of Alabasta. The main villain in the third season will be Crocodile, a dangerous pirate who is secretly creating trouble.
One Piece season 3 will also introduce some new faces. Xolo Mariduena is set to play Portgas D. Ace, while Cole Escola will play theatrical assassin Bon Clay.
