Fans of Bridgerton will be happy to know that the fifth season is in production. Bridgerton season 5 will focus on Francesca Bridgerton, a character who has mostly stayed in the background so far. The new season will also explore the show’s first same-sex love story.
Known for its mix of romance, drama, humour and beautiful outfits, the show has built a massive fan base since its debut on Netflix. According to showrunner Jess Brownell, the upcoming season will continue to deliver the emotional storytelling and romantic twists that viewers have come to expect. The story takes inspiration from Julia Quinn’s book When He Was Wicked.

Bridgerton season 5 will focus on Francesca Bridgerton’s emotional journey after the tragic loss of her husband, John Stirling. Following his death, Francesca decides to step away from society and live a quieter life.
After about two years, Francesca begins to consider returning to society. However, things begin to change when Michaela, John’s cousin, arrives in London to take responsibility for the Stirling family estate. As Francesca and Michaela spend more time together, their relationship gradually deepens. This unexpected bond makes Francesca rethink what she truly wants from life and relationships.

As of now, Netflix has not shared an official premiere date of the upcoming season. However, reports suggest that viewers might have to wait a while. The new season is expected to arrive sometime between late 2027 and early 2028.
Fans can also look forward to more stories from the Bridgerton universe beyond season 5. Netflix has already renewed the show for season 6. Interestingly, this renewal happened even before season 4 premiered.
