The film follows Shivam Pandit, played by Emraan Hashmi. He is a former gangster who has turned his back on his criminal life. Shivam finds himself pulled back into the dangerous world of crime after a group of children is kidnapped in Thailand. One of the abducted children is an infant. Shivam gives her the name Aaliyah, after the woman he once loved and lost.

As for its box office performance, reports suggest that Awarapan 2 was produced with a budget of around Rs 45 crore. The film reportedly collected between Rs 21 crore and Rs 23.40 crore net in India on its opening day.
The movie also faced competition from Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, which released during the same weekend. The film reportedly earned Rs 5.75 crore net in India on its first day. Batwara 1947 stars Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Isha Sandhir, Aamir Khan, Abhimanyu Singh, Ali Fazal, Vicky Kaushal and Kanikka Kapur in important roles.
