HIGHLIGHTS

With Twitter bagging the rights to live stream NFL games, word is that the micro-blogging app might be heading to Apple TV soon.

San Francisco based micro-blogging stalwart, Twitter, may soon be partnering with Apple, to place its app on the Cupertino tech giant’s popular video streaming device, Apple TV. According to a report by the New York Times, Twitter is already in talks with Apple for finalising the deal, which will allow users of the micro-blogging platform to watch popular live streams on Apple’s platform.

Twitter recently bagged the rights to live stream NFL games starting September 15. Lately, Twitter has been ramping up its live streaming efforts, by signing deals with the likes of CBS News, Wimbledon, National Basketball Association, and more. This, after the platform started witnessing a major decline in its user base. Not only is Twitter unable to hold its users’ attention, it is also having a hard time getting new users to sign-up on the platform.

Live streaming seems to be Twitter’s only hope to claim back its glory days, but competition still remains tough, with both Facebook and Snapchat gunning for similar deals.
