Meta is officially introducing the parental supervision tools for Threads in Asia Pacific, giving parents and guardians more control over how teenagers use the social media platform. In its blog post, the company stated that it will be rolling out starting this week and will offer detailed analytics, including time spent and usage limits. Soon after parents enable the parental controls via Meta’s Family Center, they can check how much time their kid has spent on Threads each day over the previous week. They can also set a daily usage limit and block access during specific days or hours.
The update adds controls for Threads’ sleep mode as well. Parents can restrict access at night, with notifications muted and automatic replies enabled by default between 10 PM and 7 AM. They can also decide who is allowed to tag their teen in posts. Parents will additionally be able to manage or approve certain privacy settings and sensitive-content preferences for their teenager.

“Teen Accounts on Threads have automatic, built-in protections like private accounts and limits on the content teens see. Beginning this week, parents can decide if teens under 16 can change any of these settings to be less strict, and will have access to new insights and controls,” the blog added.
The new supervision tools are built on Threads’s existing Teen accounts, which automatically apply protections such as private profiles and restrictions on the content shown to younger users. Meta said parents can now decide whether teens under 16 are allowed to make those settings less restrictive.
The supervision features are being added to Meta’s Family Center, allowing parents to manage Threads alongside other Meta platforms. The company first introduced these controls for Threads in the US in July before expanding them further.
