Edits by Instagram is now available for Android users: Here’s how to use and download

Instagram has finally launched its video editing app, Edits, for Android users. After first opening pre-registrations for iOS users earlier this year, the app is now available to download for free on both the App Store and Google Play Store. The Edits app is designed to simplify video creation, especially for content creators who often juggle multiple apps to bring their ideas to life.

“The process of making videos can be challenging, often requiring multiple apps and complicated workflows. With Edits, you now have a dedicated space with powerful capabilities for video creation,” Instagram said in a blogpost.

What is Edits by Instagram?

Edits is a dedicated app that helps you create high-quality videos directly from your phone. The goal is to make the entire video creation process easier without needing to leave the app.

You can:

• Keep everything you need to make videos in one app. You can save your ideas, manage your projects, edit videos, and export them without watermarks—all without switching apps.
• Make better videos using tools like a good-quality camera, a frame-accurate timeline, and fun effects like cutouts and AI animations.
• Get ideas from a feed of popular reels with trending sounds, and use insights to see what’s working and how to improve your content.

Instagram worked closely with creators while developing Edits. Many of them got early access and gave feedback to help improve the app.

Upcoming features of Edits

Instagram is already working on new features that will be added to Edits soon:

• Keyframes which will allow you to pinpoint exact moments to animate the position, rotation, and scale of your clips.
• Modify, an AI-powered tool to change the look of videos quickly.
• Collaboration tools so creators can share drafts with friends or brands.
• More creative options like extra fonts, transitions, voice effects, and royalty-free music.

How to download and use Edits

Getting started is easy. Just download Edits by Instagram from the Google Play Store or App Store, then sign in using your Instagram account. That’s it.
