How to set up pocket money on UPI Circle using Google Pay

You can choose to approve each payment made by the secondary user or set a monthly spending limit. It offers both flexibility and peace of mind for daily use. The setup process is simple and takes only a few steps if both users have active accounts and linked bank details. This guide will show you how to set up pocket money using UPI Circle on Google Pay.

Prerequisites

Here are some of the things you need to know before you set up pocket money on UPI Circle using Google Pay:

  • You need an active Google Pay account.
  • The bank account should be linked to the Google Pay account.
  • A primary user can only add 5 secondary users.
  • Ensure that the secondary user’s phone number is saved in your contacts.
  • The secondary users should have an active Google Pay account.
  • Secondary users need to have an UPI ID or a UPI Circle QR.

How to set up pocket money on UPI Circle (Primary user)

Follow the easy steps below to set up pocket money on UPI Circle using Google Pay:

1. Launch Google Pay app on your device.

2. Tap on your profile icon and select UPI circle.

3. Choose Set up pocket money on UPI Circle.

4. Enter the secondary user’s name or phone number in the box.

5. Press the Confirm button.

6. Now you’ll need to select one of the following: ‘Approve every payment’ or ‘Set a monthly limit’ and tap the Continue button.

a. Set a monthly limit

If you choose the Set a monthly limit option, follow the easy steps below:

  • Enter the amount you need to set up as a preferred monthly limit.
  • Now, you need to add details for a secondary user.
  • Once done, pick your relationship with the secondary user.
  • Type the government ID number for the secondary user and tap Continue.
  • Select a bank account for the secondary user and tap Send Invite.
  • Lastly, press send the invite and enter your UPI PIN.

b. Approve every payment

If you opted for Approve every payment, then you can check the steps below:

  • Press the Approve every payment and tap Continue.
  • Now, tap the Yes, sent invite button.

How to verify a secondary pocket money user on UPI Circle

Once you’ve set a monthly limit, the secondary user must be verified before they’re able to make a payment. Here’s how you can do so:

1. Confirm the secondary user’s relationship to you.

2. Select a government ID type. You can choose any ID from the list.

3. Enter your ID number to verify the person.
