AI on a smartphone becomes more than a buzzword when it starts taking care of tasks you would otherwise have to do yourself in a trustful manner. For young professionals, that could mean sifting through a long meeting recording to find a few important notes on audio. The vivo T5 puts this idea into practice with features that can turn voice recordings into text and a quick summary, help clean up or rewrite text, and even translate speech in real-time. These features are backed by the 8th Gen MediaTek NPU 850, which enables up to 233% faster on-device AI computing.
For someone who uses their phone throughout the day, these are the kind of features that can not just save a few extra steps here and there but free up time to do other more important tasks. Add to that the Dimensity 7500 Turbo, a 7.99mm body, a 3D curved AMOLED display and a 7,050mAh battery, and the vivo T5 starts to make a lot of sense as a phone built for smart AI tasks with various tricks up its sleeve.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo is built on a 4nm process and uses an octa-core CPU architecture. It also features the next-level Krake GPU architecture, with vivo claiming more than 10% higher energy efficiency and 7% better gaming performance. The company quotes an AnTuTu score of over 1.2 million.
For gaming, the T5 supports 120 FPS gameplay, along with Ultra Game Mode, 4D Game Vibration and enhanced in-game audio. If you tend to pick up your phone for a quick game and then end up spending an hour on it, the higher frame-rate support and gaming-focused features are meant to make those longer sessions more comfortable. The 144Hz refresh rate is there to support compatible games.
If you’ve recorded a long voice note, AI Transcript Assist can turn it into text and give you a summary instead of making you sit through the entire recording again. AI Creation can summarise or rewrite text, while AI Captions can transcribe and translate speech in real time. These AI features come out of the box with the Origin OS OS 6.0 experience on vivo T5.
The device is powered by the 8th Gen MediaTek NPU 850, which offers up to 233% faster on-device AI computing compared with the previous-generation Dimensity 7400, helping AI tasks like these run faster on the phone itself.
The 7.99mm thickness is more interesting once you look at the battery capacity. The T5 weighs 199g and uses a 3D curved display, a one-piece narrow frame and a Skyline camera design. Royal Bronze and Silver Green give the phone two fairly different finishes. Royal Bronze has warmer metallic tones, while Silver Green combines silver with subtle green undertones.
Up front sits a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. Brightness goes up to 2,000 nits HBM, while the display has a 93.82% screen-to-body ratio, 449 PPI and HDR10+ support. vivo also lists SGS certifications for low blue light, low flicker and sunlight display performance.
For games and video, the large 1.5K panel gives you plenty of screen to work with. The 3D curved display also helps the phone sit more comfortably in the hand, while the narrow bezels leave most of the front for the screen.
At the back, the main camera is a 50MP unit with Sony’s IMX882 sensor and 4-axis optical image stabilisation. An 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 115-degree field of view sits beside it, while the front camera has a 32MP sensor.
Both the front and rear cameras can record 4K video at 30 FPS. Multifocal Portrait mode gives you three focal-length options on the rear camera: 26mm at 1x, 39mm at 1.5x and 52mm at 2x. You also get bokeh effects such as Natural, Rotary Focus and Bubbles.
The T5 also includes photo-editing tools such as AI Erase 2.0, which lets you remove unwanted people or objects from a photo directly on the phone.
A 7,050mAh battery is a big number for a smartphone, and it should give the T5 enough capacity to comfortably get through a full day of regular use. What makes it more interesting is that vivo has managed to fit it into a 7.99mm-thick body.
The battery supports 44W FlashCharge, with vivo claiming a 1% to 55% charge in 33 minutes. vivo also says the T5’s battery is built to retain its health for up to five years, with features such as overnight charging protection, a custom charging upper limit and frequent charging protection.
vivo rates the battery for 1,600 complete charge and discharge cycles while retaining at least 80% capacity. For a large-capacity battery, the long-term health features are worth noting alongside the headline capacity.
OriginOS makes the T5 more useful when work is split between a phone and a computer. Office Kit lets you mirror the T5’s screen on a computer, transfer files between devices and hand off tasks, while notes can stay synced across the phone and Windows or macOS.
So, if a file or note is on your phone but you need to continue working on your computer, you can pick it up from there without moving everything manually. Super Clipboard is useful for smaller things, letting you copy text or images on one device and paste them on the other.
Shake and Share is more straightforward. Shake two devices face-to-face to create a sharing group, select the files and send them without quality loss or mobile data usage. Devices from other brands can join a group created by a vivo user.
There are also practical durability features. IP68 and IP69 protection, wet-hand touch and one-tap water ejection are built in, while the phone has undergone MIL-STD-810H testing for temperature, sand and dust, rain, impact and transportation falls.
The T5 has a fairly long specification sheet, but its appeal comes from how differently those specifications come together. There is plenty of performance for gaming, a large 144Hz AMOLED display for entertainment, a versatile camera setup, and software features that make the phone useful beyond the usual calls and apps.
For young professionals and other young consumers, the T5 fits into a routine that can change several times during the day. It can handle work-related tasks, gaming sessions, photography and entertainment without making any one of them feel like an afterthought. The large battery, slim design and productivity-focused software add to that flexibility, giving the T5 a broader role than a phone built around a single use case.
It is this combination that makes the vivo T5 an interesting option for someone who expects their smartphone to keep up with different parts of their day.
