Portable ACs are much more affordable and usually cost between Rs 25,000 and RS 40,000. They do not require professional installation. On the other hand, central ACs need a big investment. Depending on the size of the house and the installation requirements, the cost can range from Rs 1.5 lakh to more than Rs 5 lakh.

Central AC units consume significantly more total electricity overall (3,000-4,500 watts per hour), but portable ACs are less energy-efficient. Because all components are in a single room and require an exhaust hose, portable ACs require more wattage per square foot and usually cost more to operate per hour.
Portable ACs are easy to set up. You only need to place the unit in a room and connect its exhaust hose to a window or wall opening. It offers a cleaner look, quieter operation and better comfort throughout the house, although it comes with a higher upfront cost.
